The Controller of Budget Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o signed the Leadership and Integrity Code on 10th December, 2019 at her Bima House office.

“Before assuming a State office, acting in a State office, or performing any functions of a State office, a duly appointed person shall take and subscribe the oath or affirmation of office, in the manner and form prescribed by the Third Schedule or under an Act of Parliament”. (COK, 2010 Chapter Six (74)

Under section 40 of the Leadership and Integrity Act, 2012, as read with Regulation 34(2) of the Leadership and Integrity Regulation, 2015, each newly elected state officer is required to at the time of taking oath of office or within seven days of assuming state office to sign and commit to specific leadership and integrity code prescribed in accordance with section 37 by the public entity to which he or she has been elected or appointed.

Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o was on 4th December 2019, sworn in as the second Controller of Budget for an eight year term by Chief Justice David Maraga at the Supreme Court Building. This is after end of term of her predecessor Agnes Odhiambo, ended in August 2019.

The signing was done in the presence of Mr Benson Marimba, Deputy Director Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and Ms Rodah Rutto Director Legal Services from OCOB.
