The Office of the Controller of Budget team receives the Award of the Second Runners-up for best reporting under the IPSASs Cash Category among the Independent Offices and Commissions during the 2019 FiRe Awards ceremony held at Carnivore, Nairobi on 18th November, 2019.

For the 5th time the Office of the Controller of Budget has received top honours at the annual Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards. The Financial Reporting (FiRe) Award is the most prestigious and coveted Award in East Africa and the region.

This year there were 687 entries. This is a sharp increase in participation from that of 2018. This increase was attributed to the rise in the number of entries across all categories and two additional categories created for Counties and National Government Constitutional Development Fund. Other public institutions participating included Ministries, Departments and Agencies, State Corporations and Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies, and the County Governments.

This annual event is organized by the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (PSASB), Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
