The Controller of Budget, Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o with the OCOB team receive the Winner’s Award for best financial reporting in IPSASs Cash Category under the Independent Offices and Commissions during the 2022 FiRe Awards celebrations held on 16th December, 2022 at Safari Park Hotel & Casino, Nairobi.
The Office of the Controller of Budget (OCOB) scooped the top award at the Financial Reporting (FiRe) Award 2022 Ceremony held on 16th December 2022 at Safari Park Hotel & Casino. OCOB won in the category of IPSAS Cash Financial Reporting under the Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices. The FiRe Award is the most prestigious and coveted Award in East Africa for financial reporting.
This Award follows a rigorous evaluation process based on globally accepted principles and best practice standards. The guiding principles include applicable reporting frameworks such as International Financial Reporting Standards or International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IFRS/IPSAS), best practices in governance and environmental and sustainability reporting as well as other legal and regulatory requirements that are specific to a particular reporting entity.
The celebrations, whose theme was “Promoting Excellence in Financial reporting Through Integrating Financial and Non-Financial Information”, received a total of 844 entries. It is aimed at promoting integrated reporting through enhancing accountability, transparency and integrity.
This annual event is jointly sponsored by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (PSASB), Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), and the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA).
