On 12th December, 2021, the Controller of Budget, CPA Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o was awarded the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) – First Class commendation by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta during the commemoration of the national celebration of Jamhuri day.

Following the award, the Controller of Budget was on 17th May 2022 presented with an insignia at a Special and colourful event at the Senate Chambers to symbolize this honour.

The ceremony was presided over by the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Justin Muturi and the Co-chairs of the Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee.

CPA Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o together with other recipients were presented with the national awards and honors insignia in recognition for their great service delivery and exemplary contribution to the country.
